Protecting Traditional Knowledge (TK) and Traditional Cultural Expressions (TCE)
The traditionaldesigns.la site serves as the home for the Oma Traditional Textile Design Database©, a private database belonging to the Oma community of Nanam Village in Phongsaly Province, Lao PDR. It is expected that additional databases documenting the Traditional Cultural Expressions of other artisan communities in Laos will be added to this website, which will serve as a central hub.
To learn more about the use of these databases and Cultural Intellectual Property Rights in Laos, visit the Artisan IP Rights resource page.
The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre and Cultural Intellectual Property Rights Initiative® are available to help other communities document and protect their traditional designs. For more information, please contact ipadvocates@taeclaos.org.
